Why Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a Champion to Us All

Like many of us, Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer, has had his fair share of pain and inner cries. He has had to deal with the scars of mental, physical, and emotional abuse just because he was “different from the rest”. But, not in a sense that he was different in terms of not a “normal” animal, but he had a distinguishing mark that made him stand out. For those who have seen the film, they would understand Rudolph to be the reindeer who had a shining red nose…unlike the others. But amidst everything, he didn’t let the negative feedback get to him, and he lived his life as usual. These simple “reindeer facts” will help you understand my thoughts on this.
Why Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a Champion to Us All
Many people watch the movie without getting the true meaning of what the writer may want to say. Rudolph, in his little world, is similar to the world of us living among people who have different disabilities. Many learn how to understand and live with it while others crumble under pressure and do the unthinkable. For sure, it is never something easy to deal with as going out each day, will only result in persons looking you down or laughing. The pressure only leads to emotional and self-hate and never learning to accept oneself for who we are. But watching the movie, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will give an insight on how to handle any situation, whether you are the one with the difference or you are the one dealing with someone facing an indifference.
Connecting Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with the Real World
One may ask how does a simple animated film relates to someone in the real world? Well, in today’s age and time, we see a lot of people dealing with bullying from many different angles. Either in person or over cyberspace. These come in physical abuse, verbal abuse, and the many other forms they come in. However, one has to be active to deal with and live freely within themselves effectively. As we watch, we get to connect the little once-depressed reindeer to us…

The Island of Misfit Toys: Being Different Means Being Unique
We all have our differences, and Rudolph has taught just how to live with that. He has gone past the stage of self-hate and started seeing himself as unique, and this is how we desire to be. Rudolph has helped us to brave past the worst in learning to accept ourselves and condition our minds to use our indifference for positive changes that could impact the world and change lives in return. As little Rudolph was annoyed and teased, he, later on, used his nose to let everyone around him understand that he was unique and not “common”. His difference made him a cut above the rest, which the narrow-minded other reindeers could not even see.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Dealing With Bullying
Often we see young people and more so children committing suicide as a result of being bullied because they are different. They cannot take the pressure, and the reality of what the negative influence has forced on them makes them vulnerable and weak. Rudolph, with his strength, has helped us to be powerful enough to fight back and let the world understand no matter what they try, it cannot tear us down. It is a mindset that needs to be developed and instilled in our children that they can fight back (not physically or being abusive). Help them to understand that walking away and using the “problem” as a driving force to achieving greatness is better than shrieking.
True Purpose in Your Difference
Seeing the positive in everything, even when it seems dull, is better than going under with negative pressure. Let us face the reality of what it is…what if Rudolph never stood up and brave the pressure from his bullies? Christmas would never have been the same, and those who were being “terrible” against the innocent guy would have also felt the wave of a canceled Christmas. Bear in mind, it was the same difference in Rudolph that initially changed the dull reality and brought light (literally!). The moment he stood up was when he realized he was made different with a purpose inside. He has changed the mindset of many to understand that their purpose lies within the difference from the rest.
Light in the Dark
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was the shining light for those in the darkness when the looming cancellation of Christmas was on. The true meaning of what the writer was trying to bring to light was not understood by many. They have given many backlashes about the abuse the character had received and thought it may have helped to trigger how bullies behave now. But it was the flip-side that they expected everyone to see…standing tall above the negative energy and focus on how you can use your inner power to rise. Rudolph has done the unthinkable, and though many may not see it, he is a standard-bearer for many children and adults today who are fighting back.
